The problem

Most dating apps are slot machines.

Pull, see who’s next, pull again. The good ones get buried under the maybe-better ones, and the maybe-better ones get buried too. Nobody is choosing. Everybody is shopping, and everybody is tired.

The absence of everyone else is the feature.

How it works

Three steps, and then the door shuts.

Nothing here is a game mechanic. Liking is free and unlimited; the only scarce thing on Sole is the room at the end.

  1. 01

    Search

One profile at a time, read at reading speed. Like as many people as you want. Liking costs nothing and commits nothing.

  2. 02

    Choose

When a like lands both ways, you decide whether to open a room. Nothing happens until you both say yes.

  3. The lock

The room closes around the two of you. Every other profile recedes and stops responding until one of you ends it.

Inside Sole

Bright while you look. Warm once you stop.

Sole has exactly two modes, and the whole design lives in the difference between them.

The bakery on Verdi. That’s my answer and I’m not moving.

Bold, for someone who has never been to Torres.

Saturday. Bring an appetite and a rebuttal.

Ten o’clock. I’ll be the one already ordering.

Deal. Don’t be late. I won’t wait, but I will save you one.

Verified, once

Everyone here is real.

We check that once, at the door, so nobody inside has to wonder who they’re talking to. It is a protection, not a wall, and no one is turned away because a haircut confused a camera.

  • About thirty seconds

A short video and a face match, once, when you sign up. Good light, no hat. Take your time. There’s no clock.

  • The video doesn’t stay

We match it against your photos and then delete it. What we keep is a check mark, not a recording of your face.

  • A ban means something

Bans attach to the verified person, not the email address. A new inbox doesn’t get anyone back in.

Questions

Short answers, honest ones.

Is Sole free?

The first 1,000 people to sign up after we open get their first month free. After that Sole is paid, because we would rather charge you than sell your attention back to you, and pricing lands before launch. The waitlist doesn’t hold one of those 1,000 places for you; it means you hear the morning we open, which is how you get there first.

Why do I have to verify my face?

Because everyone else did. It is a short video and a face match, about thirty seconds, once, at sign-up. It is what lets us say that every person you meet on Sole is a real, unique human, and it is how bans actually stick.

When does it open?

July 29. Everyone on the waitlist gets one email that morning with a way in. That is the only email you will get from us before launch.

Why only one connection at a time?

Because a full inbox is why good matches get dropped. There is always someone taller, funnier, closer. When the rest of the app disappears, the person in front of you gets read properly. The absence of everyone else is the feature.

What do you keep?

For the waitlist: your email address, nothing else. No name, no password, no social sign-in. We use it once, to tell you Sole is open, and you can ask us to delete it at any time at hello@soledating.app.
