Accessibility

Where we meet the standard, and three places we do not.

Menula LLP is committed to making Sole usable by everyone, and to being specific about it. A statement that only lists what works is marketing. This one lists what does not, with the measurements.

The company behind Sole

Sole. is a product of Menula LLP, a limited liability partnership registered in India (LLPIN ACZ-4363), at HIG-A-16, Dr. A S Rao Nagar, Hyderabad, Telangana 500062, India.

01

What we are aiming at

The target is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.2 at Level AA, for this website and for the Sole app.

In India, sections 40, 42 and 46 of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 put accessibility obligations on service providers, private ones included, and the standards notified under it follow WCAG. If Sole opens in the EU, EN 301 549 and the European Accessibility Act become the frame, and they also resolve to WCAG 2.2 AA, so the target does not move.

Status: partially conformant. Most of WCAG 2.2 AA is met. Section 4 lists exactly where it is not.

02

What this covers

This statement covers soledating.app, including the waitlist and these legal pages. The Sole mobile app is built to the same target and will get its own assessment, published here, before sign-up opens. Until that assessment exists this page does not claim anything about the app, because we have not measured it yet.

03

What is in place

  • Semantic structure: real landmarks, headings in order, and one h1 per page.
  • A skip link to the main content, visible as soon as it takes focus.
  • Full keyboard operation. Nothing needs a mouse, nothing traps focus, and the tab order follows the reading order.
  • A visible focus indicator everywhere: a 2px terracotta outline at 3px offset, which is never removed.
  • Every form control has a real label. Errors are announced through a live region rather than only shown in colour.
  • Motion is optional. Scroll reveals, floats and smooth scrolling all respect prefers-reduced-motion, and the reveal animations resolve to visible rather than to hidden.
  • The FAQ uses native details and summary elements, so it works with no JavaScript and every answer is already in the page for a screen reader that does not click.
  • Text resizes and reflows. Sizes are relative, and the layout holds at 200 percent zoom.
  • Colour is never the only carrier of meaning.
  • Typefaces are self-hosted, so text renders without waiting on a third-party font server that might be slow or blocked.
  • Tables on these legal pages scroll inside their own container, so the page itself never scrolls sideways.
04

Where we fall short

Three colour combinations from the Sole design language sit below the AA contrast threshold for small text. They were built as designed and flagged rather than quietly changed, and they are listed here with their measured ratios.

WhereMeasuredAA needsStatus
Cream body copy on the terracotta manifesto panel4.32:14.5:1Under review. Darkening that panel to the deep terracotta reaches 6.05:1 and is a one-line fix
Small mono captions in the lightest ink on cream3.60:14.5:1Under review. Affects captions and the footer note, never body text or a control label
Input placeholder text on white2.22:1Placeholders are exempt from AA, but this is faintBeing raised. No control depends on the placeholder for its meaning, because every field has a real label

Also outstanding, and stated rather than left to be discovered: this statement is a self-assessment by the team that built the site, not an independent audit. It has been checked by keyboard and against the WCAG 2.2 AA criteria; it has not been through a formal third-party evaluation, and it has not been tested with every combination of assistive technology. An independent assessment is planned, and its date and findings will replace this paragraph.

05

If something blocks you

Tell us and we will fix it, and in the meantime we will get you whatever you were trying to reach another way. Write to hello@soledating.app with "Accessibility" in the subject, and say what you were trying to do, on what page, and what got in the way. What browser, device or assistive technology you were using helps, but do not let not knowing stop you writing.

  • We reply within 5 working days, from a person.
  • If it is a quick fix, it ships in the next release and we tell you when it has.
  • If it is not quick, we tell you when it is scheduled, and we offer a way around it in the meantime.
  • Anything on the list in section 4 is already known, and writing about it is still worth doing: it tells us how much it actually costs you, which is what decides the order things get fixed in.
06

If we do not fix it

Escalate to the Grievance Officer at grievance@soledating.app, or by post to HIG-A-16, Dr. A S Rao Nagar, Hyderabad, Telangana 500062, India. Acknowledged within 24 hours, answered within 15 days.

Past us, section 75 of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 lets you complain to the Chief Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, and section 79 to the State Commissioner in your state. You do not need our agreement to do either, and doing it does not affect anything else about your account.
